Make a free digital business card with a QR code using ChatGPT

Quick answer

A digital business card is a one-page site, and its QR code holds the page's address. Ask ChatGPT or Claude for the page as one HTML file, publish it at an address that stays, and make the QR code from that address. Card apps such as Blinq, HiHello, and Wave Connect do the same on free plans, in their own design.

Publish my business card

Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 50 form entries a month shown and emailed.

On this page

You hand someone a paper card, or hold up your phone, and they scan a code. Your page opens: name, what you do, how to reach you, and links to your work. You want that without paying a card app every month.

The Blinq, HiHello, Wave Connect, and DENSO WAVE pages quoted here were read on November 1, 2026.

A QR code holds the card's address

A digital card is a web page. The QR code on your paper card holds the page's address, and a phone that scans it opens the page in its browser. So the page has to sit at an address that keeps opening, through every change you make to the card. A preview link from an AI chat, or a file you send, doesn't do that.

There are 2 ways to get there:

  • A card app gives you a card page at its own address, in its own design, with a QR code. You fill in a form; you don't make the page.
  • A page you have an AI make is a one-page site in the design you ask for. You publish it yourself, then make the QR code from its address.

The card apps do things a page doesn't: a card in Apple or Google Wallet, several cards in one account, and contact scanning. If you want those, start with one of them. A page from an AI fits when you want the card to be a small site in your own design, with your own work on it and a form to contact you.

What goes on a digital business card

Give the AI what you'd print, and what doesn't fit on paper:

  • Your name, your role, and your business name
  • A phone number and an email address, as links that start a call or an email
  • One sentence on what you do, and for whom
  • Links: your website, a booking page, a portfolio, LinkedIn or Instagram
  • A photo or a logo, if you have one. Upload it to the AI with your details and ask for it inside the HTML file: a separate image file doesn't come along when you publish one file. Images inside the file can take up about 1.5 MB.

Everything on the page is readable by anyone who has the address. Put on it only what you'd print on a paper card.

Ask ChatGPT or Claude for the card

Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and fill in the brackets. It asks for one file, which is what you upload.

Make a digital business card as one HTML file, with the CSS inside.

- Name: [Ana Lopez]
- Role and business: [Graphic designer, Lopez Studio]
- One sentence on what I do: [Logos and menus for cafés and small shops]
- Phone: [+1 555 0100], as a tel: link. Email: [ana@example.com], as a mailto: link.
- Links: [website, booking page, Instagram], each as a large button.
- Put exactly one empty <div data-convika-form></div> at the end, where a contact form goes. Don't write a <form> of your own.
- Made for a phone held upright: large text, buttons easy to tap. No separate image files: put any image I give you inside the file.

Read every line before you publish. The AI can change a digit in a phone number or invent a link you never gave it.

A "Save contact" button. You can also ask the AI for a "Save contact" link whose address holds your details as a contact file (a vCard, .vcf, in a data: address), with a download file name. In our test on iOS 26.3, in Apple's iPhone Simulator, such a link in Safari opened the details as a contact card with a button to create a new contact. A button whose script builds the file another way wasn't tested. We didn't test it on Android, so tap it on an Android phone before you print the code.

Publish your card and get its QR code in 4 steps

1. Upload the page and keep it

Drop the .html file into the box at the top of this page, or switch to Paste code and paste it, then click Get my preview link. Check the layout on your phone. That link works 3 minutes, with scripts and forms off, so never print it in a code. Click Keep this page — free, no card and sign up. The page moves into your account.

2. Add the contact form

On the page's screen, click Add a form to my page and pick Name, email, and message. Change the button text to something like "Send me a message", then click Add form to my page. The form goes where the AI left the empty spot. Each entry is emailed to you, and listed under Forms with View entries. On Free, Convika shows and emails the first 50 entries a month. Skip this step if the phone and email links are enough.

3. Publish the page

Click Publish page. Under Who can open this page?, choose Public and click Next. The first time, click Publish free. Under it, Publish without the Convika bar opens an order for Pro monthly ($12 a month, after a free 1-day trial with a card). The page goes live at an address like yourpage.convika.page, with a small Convika bar at the foot on Free. Open it on your phone and send yourself a test message through the form: a message sent from a preview isn't saved.

4. Show the QR code and download it

Next to the Live URL on the page's screen, click Show QR code, then Download PNG. The code holds the address exactly as under Live URL, and it's made in your browser. The PNG already has a white margin of 4 modules on every side, the width the QR standard asks for. Scan it with your phone and check that the link it shows is your Live URL.

  • Keep the white margin. DENSO WAVE, which created the QR code, says: "QR Code requires a four-module wide margin at all sides of a symbol." Don't crop the PNG, and don't print it on a busy background.
  • Print the address too, for people who'd rather type it. The address of the first page you upload ends in a few random letters and numbers, and later pages sit at a path on it. For one that reads well, such as www.anastudio.com, connect a domain you own: Free connects 1 custom subdomain. Connect it before you print, so the code holds the address you'll keep.
  • Scan a printed proof on 2 phones, an iPhone and an Android, from as far as people will hold the card. How to turn an HTML file into a QR code has the other print checks, size included.

QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED in Japan and in other countries.

Change the card without reprinting it

The code holds the page's address, and the address stays the same when you publish a new version of the page. A new phone number, a new role, or a new link needs no new cards:

  • Ask the AI for the changed HTML, upload it under Update from an HTML file on the page's screen, and click Publish.
  • Or type the change into Edit with AI on the page's screen, such as "Change my role to Art director", and click Publish. Each edit uses AI credits: 1 on the default model. Free accounts start with 10.

Upload an HTML file in the dashboard makes a new page with a new address, which your printed code doesn't open. After Unpublish, or a swap that puts another page live in its place, the code opens no page. See how to update an AI-made page at the same address for the steps.

Free includes 10,000 page views a month across your pages. Past that, editing pauses, and 7 days later the card shows a notice that it's paused, until the month ends or you upgrade.

See how many people opened your card

Each scan that opens the page counts as a page view. Your page analytics show them by day, country, device, and where visitors came from, for the last 90 days on Free, never who they were. To count scans of the printed card apart from other visits, make the code from your address with ?utm_source=card at the end, in Chrome or another QR code generator: the dashboard's Show QR code holds the address as it is. Visits through the tagged address then show in the Campaigns (UTM) card. How to see who visits your page explains the numbers.

On Free, the page is published as Public: anyone with the link can open it, and it may show up in search results and in Convika's gallery. For a card people look you up by, search results are usually what you want. The gallery doesn't take pages with a form. To keep a card without one out of the gallery, turn on Don't show this page in the gallery under Who can open this page in Page settings; the page may still show up in search results. A private link or a password needs Pro.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a digital business card with a QR code for free?

Ask ChatGPT or Claude for a one-page card as one HTML file, then publish it on Convika's Free plan with no card. Upload it, click Keep this page — free, no card and sign up, then click Publish page, choose Public, and click Next. The first time, click Publish free. Click Show QR code next to the Live URL and Download PNG for your paper card. Blinq, HiHello, and Wave Connect also have free plans that make a card with a QR code.

Can ChatGPT make a digital business card?

Yes. ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini can write the card as one HTML file from your name, role, contact details, and links. The file isn't online yet, so publish it to get an address, and make the QR code from that address. Check every phone number and link the AI wrote before you print.

Can I update my digital business card after printing the QR code?

Yes, as long as the page keeps its address. On Convika, upload the changed file under Update from an HTML file, or ask Edit with AI for the change, then click Publish. The printed code opens the new version. Upload an HTML file in the dashboard makes a new page with a new address, which the printed code doesn't open.

Can people save my contact details from the card?

Yes, with a "Save contact" link whose address holds a vCard (.vcf) file, which the AI can write into the page. In our test on iOS 26.3 in Apple's iPhone Simulator, the link opened the details as a contact card with a button to create a new contact. We didn't test Android, so try it on an Android phone before you print.

Do digital business card QR codes expire?

No, a code made from your page's own address doesn't expire: it holds the address. It stops opening your card when the page is unpublished, when the card moves to a new address, or when a Free page is paused past the month's page views. A code made from a preview link stops working after 3 minutes.
